Sorry for the noob question but are these simialr to the old goldies where you pretty much just put them in the box and you have tv?

have just ordered card from satcom downloaded files and loader yesterday hope hasnt been changed since then all new to me but what the heck have to try something

where's a good place to read up on this as I have NFI when it comes to this stuff?
Or can one of the more sat tv savvy guys here do up a small tutorial of what you need and how to do it?
