Modding Xbox 360 - Online???

I am going to firmware mod a mates xbox 360, but got a few questions i couldn't definitely find the answer to through google.

He still wants to play online, with his Live subscription, can this be done with a cracked firmware the same as without?
How about copied games, can he have a backup of say halo3, and play that online without any troubles?

Basically to firmware upgrade it, i have read you need to connect the dvd-rom drive to your pc, and do a firmware upgrade like that. Is there lots of different cracked firmware's out there? what is the best? (not sure on his dvd-rom drive version yet obviously, he brought it recently, last month if that helps)

I havnt kept upto date but last I heard the firmware was detected by M$ then the crackers released a updated firmware which was once again invisible to M$.

Unless you have the MS25 drive it wont be as easy as plug and flash.

probbaly mick will come along and answer all of em

If he doesn't want to get banned off live, the safest method is to stealth patch all backups and only play them offline and use originals online.

okay he has a MS28 drive
unfortunately i dont have a VIA SATA chipset (on any pc here), is there anything i can do from here?

id reckon mick would be the one to ask,he knows heaps about it he actually writes the slayers,for them,im fairly sure he wrote 2.7 version.

So if he was to follow this method, would he definitely not get banned? as ive heard people have got banned doing this anyway?
Also how widespread is this banning issue? is it happening to lots of people or just a very small minority.

Stealth patching and running a new 1.4fw should avoid banning(for the time being). As long as you also use Kreon Checker to ensure all is in order with the backing up process.

with the latest fw a game that isn't stealth patched simply wont boot.
