The e740 uses Intel's new 400-MHz PXA250 Applications Processor with XScale Technology, a significant bump up from the 206-MHz Intel StrongARM used in other Pocket PC 2002 units. The new CPU provides high performance but consumes little power. Processing speed also gets a boost from the 64MB of RAM included. The performance enhancement will likely matter most to those processing large files or doing complex graphics, but even typical users who browse the Internet with the Wi-Fi connection or who switch among applications will notice the e740's speedy response.
