Old news: the Supremes didn't buy the latest liberal flap, and gave the
green light to lethal injections.

Besides, who really gives a crap if the guy that raped and killed three 8
year old girls feels some pain on his way to eternity?

# Yes, the State thus reduces itself to the level of the rapist or killer -
a vicious sadistic entity.
We can take a dog to a vet, and the animal is given a lethal injection
so it dies instantly. Yet we can't do the same for a human.
But the trouble with capital punishment is not the means of execution,
but that execution is irreversible.
What say, the accused and convicted felon did not commit the crime? You
kill him, and the real culprit is then found. Too late to let the jailed
person free; he's dead.
The most famous case of miscarriage of justice is probably the Christie
case in England, where Evans was hung for the crime (of murdering his own
wife), only for us to find that Christie (the chief witness) had done it.
Of course, the jails are full of persons who "never done it". Bradley
John Murdoch is serving 28 years in an Australian jail for the murder of
Peter Falconio - who is presumed dead. What if Murdoch was given a plea
bargain for telling us what he did with the body? Or, what if the real
murderer is found?
Schapelle Corby is serving 20 years in an Indonesian prison for
smuggling marijuana into Indonesia. Like Murdoch, she maintains she is
innocent. Again, what if she was hung, and the real culprit found?
Capital punishment should be replaced by Life Imprisonment (and life
means life). Then we won't need to discuss types of execution - and would
also have the option of letting a wrongly-convicted felon out.
Meanwhile, for every innocent (?) murderer behind bars, there is one or
more real killers still on the loose.
