One possibility is (and I'm serious) get someone traveling from Australia
to buy an Australian DVD player. You'd need a transformer for the
electricity supply, but most Australian players will play anything. Region
coding is restraint of trade.
Like printers, the actual machine is usually very cheap, because you are
going to have to buy discs (or cartridges in the case of printers).
So I can watch any DVD on my television, but I can only watch region 4 on
my Macintosh computer!
