DVD to iPod Rippers

What's a good, free if not cheap program that can rip shows or movies off DVD
and into an iPod?

Seems to be a few about but they are all commercial. I'm hoping to get something
that's free, if possible. Otherwise if not, what's the better of the
commercially available products?

Thanks. But Videora still requires a DVD ripper such as DVD Decryptor to be
installed and it's a multi step process to get that DVD onto your iPod.

I was hoping that I could find a program that does it in one easy step.

DVDFab Platinum will do it. There's a 30 trial to prove it will do what
you want.

Do the aspect ratios come out all right with these things?
I hate stretching or squashing, and cutting off the picture unless
I have control over it.

To much control can be a dangerous thing, hence the 30 day trial

I've been using DVDFab for a year, but I never used or paid for the iPod conversion
thingy, hence my non-response. It's there but I don't know if it works.

I ended up using Xilisoft DVD to iPod Ripper. It works fine as far as aspect
ratio goes. I just set it to "auto" or keep original aspect, the bit rate for
video to 512 and let 'er rip, as it were.

The iPod Classic 80 gig plays them just fine.

I tried that DVD Platinum. It works but it's not as good as the Xilisoft
products. We spent a day trying different products on three different computers
to see which did the best job. In the end we decided on Xilisoft.

Super is another that works OK too but not for DVD ripping. I use that to
convert xvid AVIs to mp4 iPod format or for PocketPC avi format so my PDA can
play videos.

Computer games don't affect kids... I mean, if Pacman
affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened
room munching pills and listening to repetitive music.
