Agreed - go with the Pioneer. I've had a few of the el-cheapo brands
myself. For the most part they are ok, but I have found that the lasers
often have trouble playing a burned DVD right out the the outer edges. Some
also have a tendancy to display the subtitles by default, despite being set
not to do so. Pioneer are region free out of the box, play everything and
very good quality for the price.

Ta, I bought a Pioneer DV-410 V-K the other day, and have been very
impressed with it, I particulary like the memory feature it has, good in
particular for TV show DVD's like BBC ones, it skips all the start up
crap and goes straight to the last point the dvd was at.

I think most DVD players do that, everyone I've owned has. But I have
to agree, thats one of the best features of DVD players in general.
Also to add to the Pioneer part of the thread, I have an AV-600 I have
no problems with it. Only I wish the memory feature worked with DivX as
well.
