which is the best naked ADSL provider!

Which is the best naked ADSL service provider! Is there any gain in
abandoning the Telstra line and relying entirely on naked ADSL. Somebody
told me it's not worth it. Any advice would be appreciated.

..

Depends on how you plan to use it!!

In theory that can be cheaper than having to pay for the phone service too.

One real downside with any naked DSL is that its not as easy
to change service providers if you find one thats better value later.

What Rod said is totally correct, all I would add is DON'T give up your
Telstra service but instead move to the cheapest plan & use a cheap ISP such
as TPG ($50 for 50GB/Month). Then use any of the excellent VoIP providers
(PennyTel, MyNetFone, Etc.).That way you retain your (100% reliable) Telstra
number for incoming calls & use VoIP for all of your outgoing calls (still
your choice though). That's what we did & it's worked out well. I would also
add that if circumstances allow buy a two line cordless system (such as
Aristel) & have LINE 1 = Telstra & LINE 2 = VoIP, it's the perfect setup.
These phones allow for fully configured settings such as all outgoing calls
via VoIP (Line 2) for instance! With the right router/modem (Billion for
example) you can have up to 10 VoIP providers, selectable by pre-codes in
your dial plan! Sounds complicated but it isn't!

Thanks for the advice Rod and Krusty. I don't think ADSL Naked is a good
idea. Telstra still controls the line and that's the problem - Regards

It can be if you dont use the phone line for anything but DSL.

Telstra does that even with a non naked DSL service.

The main downside with a naked service is that it isnt as easy to
change service providers if you find one with a better value offer.
