Tyres for Barina

My Daughter has a '91 Barina.
Existing tyres are 155/70 x13 retreads.
Kmart has 155/80R x13 on sale
She wants a couple to go on the the front.

Will the 80R's go on the standard rim?
Any other problems likely?

Thanks ...Ian

They will fit, but the speedo will be even less accurate. Assuming the
current retreads are the correct size for the vehicle (not always a safe
assumption), fitting 155/80 tyres will put the speedo out by something like
5-6%

Without getting too technical, the speedo will be less accurate (read
slower) and the handling may be affected.

The tyres will fit but, if you're extremely unlucky, they may rub on body
work or suspension. This would be illegal.

Also, rolling diameter will theoretically change by 5%. This is outside of
the legally allowed 3% maximum variation.

My recommendation is to shop around, you will probably do better for size,
price, quality.

Personally, over a 20+ year period, I've always found my local TyrePower
dealer to be far better on pricing AND able to offer better quality tyres
(and advise). For example, last time I bought a pair of tyres he beat the
big name competition by $50 a tyre (fitted and balanced).

No, I have no affiliation with any tyre related business.

Speedo will say 100ks car will be doing 106ks
This may mitigate or enhance the existing inaccuracies already present in
the speedo.
